BLACKPINK’s ‘Ice Cream’ MV Surpasses 100 Million Views on YouTube
BLACKPINK continue to be the queens that they are!
On August 31st, the ‘Ice Cream’ music video reached a 100 million views in 1.5 days, making it their 21st music video to surpass the high amount of views. YG Entertainment announced that the MV was able to achieve this feat within nearly 41 hours, making it the second fastest MV to reach 100M following ‘How You Like That’ (reached in 32 hours).
’Ice Cream’ is a pop genre song that shows off a new side to BLACKPINK’s charms. The single track gave a refreshing and cute concept, that contrasts from the powerful performances BLACKPINK have done many times before. ‘Ice Cream’ was definitely a new challenge for the girl group, but they pulled off the concept flawlessly, widening their already broad musical spectrum.
Additionally, BLACKPINK have become the third most subscribed channel on YouTube, after Justin Bieber and DJ Marshmello. They’ve been getting subscribers at a fast pace! On ‘Ice Cream’s’ release date, the channel has been increasing by 100 thousand every hour, and now currently at 46 million.
BLACKPINK have proven their popularity by performing well on various global charts! On its release, ‘Ice Cream’ became number 1 on the iTunes Worldwide Song Chart. It also ranked 2-3 on iTunes Top Song Chart in the US and UK. It also ranked at no. 4 and 5 on the Global Top 50 and US Top 50 Charts on Spotify, the biggest music platform.And yet, their amazing streak didn’t stop there. ‘Ice Cream’ won three titles on the Digital Album New Releases MV charts of QQ Music, China’s biggest music platform. It has also slayed the weekly charts of Kugou and Kuwo Music in a single day!
